I am not talking about vinyl. My friends would laugh, because I really can’t sing (like American Idol reject bad). What I’m talking about is making notes. Sometimes when I work on a painting and I know that I have to set it aside for a couple of days, I will make some notes about it. The notes usually include a colour log of the mixes I’m using for the major areas of the painting. It means that it is not a struggle to match the colours when I come back to a painting. Also I can analyze what are the major and minor color components in the whole painting. I often have more than one painting on the go and my records help to keep continuity with each piece. While it is good to set things aside, so you look at it with fresh eyes, taking notes means that it is not a struggle to come back to work on it.
